About us

Māhuri collective exists to build a legacy of care throughout the Mt Pleasant School community. All proceeds directly fund improvements for the school.

Whether it’s time or money, every bit is equally beneficial to the growth of our children and development of our school. Just like a sapling, if we give our children the right nurturing and support, they will become strong trees. Mt Pleasant School is a key part of our community and this project exists to get your support in creating the best possible opportunities for our students.

History

In 2021 The Mount Pleasant School PTA started  "The Mahuri Collective" initiative to engage our community and provide a portal to share all information on School Campaigns/Project Wishlist items, PTA fundraising information, and how you can help support. We successfully  supported the School in our new Turf build. In 2022,  due to the success and support of your efforts, we want to keep up momentum, and continue to grow our community spirit and The Mahuri Collective.

Vision

To create a sense of community spirit and build whanaungatanga for our school and wider community.

To support our school to provide those extra resources and opportunities for our tamariki through fundraising events that also build family connections

Purpose

Mount Pleasant School’s vision is to promote community spirit, inclusion, partnership and respect in all our endeavours to provide support and resources for our school and tamariki.

If you want to be part of our friendly team and collective, or help in whatever capacity, please join us now.

Why Join the PTA?

Top reasons to join the PTA:

  • Support the school: The PTA is vital to the success of the school. Funds raised enrich your child's learning and make every student's experience better.
  • It's totally flexible:  you don't have to come to every meeting, just be on the supporter's list.
  • Make lasting friendships: Meet and chat to a wider circle of families from different classes and year groups.
  • Be better connected: Create closer links with the head, teachers and staff.
  • Because it's fun: Be part of the team which organises the best events and get-togethers.
  • Change the school for the better: Have your say on important decisions. Work with the school and other parents to see where improvements can be made
  • It’s not just for mum's:  Everyone is welcome, and it's especially important to have dads and male carers represented, as male role models are crucial in children's upbringing.
  • Be heard: Studies show that children whose parents are involved in their education do better in school. Engaging with the PTA shows your children's education is important to you. Play your part in improving the school and watch them thrive.
